Registration FAQ

How can I register for F.B.I.?

  • There are three easy ways to register: Online, Mail-in, or In-Person. Please check out the Registration menu for more information and instructions.

What are the changes in Player Registration Starting Spring 2015 Season?

  • Starting Spring 2015 season, Fremont Baseball Inc has changed the registration fees to cover the fundraising requirements. The registration fee you expect to pay at check out will include the fundraising requirements of $130 per player. However, you could choose to participate in league wide fundraisers during the season to get up to $130 reimbursed per player. Otherwise the registration fee covers all fundraisers. Please note that each team is also responsible for collecting a minimum of $500 as sponsorship to be turned in to the league, which is separate from fundraisers. Please check out the Fundraising FAQ and Sponsorship FAQ section for more information.
  • In the Pinto, Mustang, Bronco and Pony divisions, we will follow the 2015 Player Selection Plans approved and published by F.B.I. Rules Committee in Nov 2014. Players will be placed on teams following a procedure of "Tryout, Rank, Draft with Legacy Teams".

Why is the fundraising requirement included upfront with the registration fee?

  • In the past, individual fundraising has been a difficult challenge for the membership as well as the Board of Directors. There were instances where members failed to meet their individual fundraising requirements either due to busy schedules or lack of fundraising coordination. Also, our busy Board Members were additionally burdened with tracking each member family and following up with them on their fundraising commitments. As a step towards improving our league, we recognized the inefficiencies of individual fundraising and have consolidated the traditional fundraising requirement of $130 into the registration fees. This will allow the Board of Directors to adequately budget spending for the upcoming season and to focus on improving the baseball experience for all members.
  • For member families that would like to participate in fundraising activities, they can participate in league wide fundraisers during the season and will receive up to $130 in reimbursements per player. If the upfront $130 inclusion is an inconvenience for your family, we apologize and have a "deferred payment program" available. For more details on this topic, please contact any FBI Board Member.

What are the changes in Coach/Manager Application starting Spring 2015 Season?

  • Online Registration is now available for Coach/Manager Applicants from within your family account. You need to first add an adult member to your family account, then choose "register" and follow the instructions to submit your applications.
  • Coach/Manager Background Check is required starting Spring 2015 season. The league will cover the cost of Background Check for Team Manager, Coach and Assistant Coaches. Background Checks cover two years.
  • ALL team managers must complete a new application for each season.
  • Coach registrations can be done Online or using the Coach Application Form.

What Payments do you accept?

The Online Registration interface will allow you to choose payment types from "Credit Card", "Check" or "Other". However, it does NOT support Paypal directly.

Can I keep my child down in a lower division, or bring them up a division a year early?

NO, PONY rules do not allow this. If you wish to keep your child in a lower division for any particular reason instead of playing in the age group, you must write a letter to the board before tryouts. If you wish to bring your child up a division one year early, you must put a note during registration, and be prepared to bring your child to the tryout session for evaluation.

Can my child be placed on a team with one of his friends?

In the Shetland division we usually assign kids to teams based on their ages and schools of attendance, and we allow parents to request that their child be placed on a team with a particular child or manager.

In the Pinto, Mustang, Bronco and Pony divisions, we will follow the 2015 Player Selection Plans approved and published by F.B.I. Rules Committee in Nov 2014. Players will be placed on teams following a procedure of "Tryout, Rank, Draft with Legacy Teams", therefore we cannot honor any requests of this kind for players participating above the Pinto level.

How are children placed on teams?

For players in the Shetland division, the child's age, parental requests and school location are the major criteria used to form teams. In the Pinto and above divisions, we will follow the 2015 Player Selection Plans approved and published by F.B.I. Rules Committee in Nov 2014. Players will be placed on teams following a procedure of "Tryout, Rank, Draft with Legacy Teams".

If my child decided to quit can I get a refund?

No. Registration fees are non-refundable. Only under board approvals are some requests granted.

If my child does poorly at the player evaluation session will he/she be cut?

In Pinto through Pony divisions all children participating in a player tryout will be placed on a team during the draft. There are extreme cases, where the league will contact and discuss with the parents, if the league feels your child could be hurt in the wrong division.

If my child is on the waiting list will he/she be invited to the player tryout session?

In the Pinto through Pony divisions only children on the active list will be invited to the tryouts. Players who register with league after their respective division is full will be placed on a waiting list. This does not mean your child will not be placed on a team. Every year children change their mind and quit soon after the practices start. Your child will be place on a team as soon as a spot opens up.

When and what is a player evaluation session?

Children in the Pinto through Pony divisions must attend a tryout session to be drafted onto a team. These sessions for each division last about 2 hours. The tryouts gives the managers within the league an opportunity to evaluate each player prior to the draft. Players who are invited to the tryouts and are unable to attend will have their names placed in a hat and will be randomly placed on teams within their division and age group during the draft.

For example, for Spring 2015 season:

  • Tryouts for Pinto division are scheduled on Saturday, Jan 31st, 2015.
  • Tryouts for Mustang and Bronco divisions are scheduled on Sunday, Feb 1st, 2015.
  • Tryouts for Pony division will happen in mid January.

When will I find out what team my child will play on?

Most teams should be formed by the 1st week of February. Your child's manager should notify you of the first team meeting shortly after the draft. If you haven't heard by then call our league telephone at 510-227-6300, or submit a form on the "Contact Us" page to your division rep.
